September 27, 2018

PKL is pleased to announce that we have been selected to take part in MetroConnect 2018, an export assistance program run by the World Trade Center San Diego (WTC) and designed to help San Diego companies accelerate their global growth. This program will allow PKL to pursue foreign markets, establish trade partnerships, and attend trade shows. PKL has been investing resources into overseas market growth and we are grateful for the support of MetroConnect to provide additional funds to further amplify our international business growth.

As the flagship export assistance program of World Trade Center San Diego, MetroConnect helps to cultivate a pipeline of export-ready firms to elevate San Diego’s global reach. Now in its fourth program-year, company participants will receive a $10,000 grant, presented by JPMorgan Chase & Co., and a suite of programmatic support services to assist with international expansion strategies. Local companies, PKL included, will have access to a dedicated staff manager at WTC, and will receive guidance on export compliance, financing and fundraising, among other international support services.

“We applaud PKL for taking the next step in going global,” said Nikia Clarke, executive director of World Trade Center San Diego. “With SMEs like this at the forefront, San Diego must continue to increase its export capacity and boost the region’s global identity. MetroConnect is equipping these companies with the resources necessary to do just that.”

The MetroConnect program is highly competitive, with just 20 companies selected based on a variety of criteria including market interest, assessed impact of funds, current international traction and more. Applicants were assessed by a panel of judges, including representatives from Qualcomm Ventures, Biocom, U.S. Commercial Service, Rough Draft Brewing, San Diego State University, Tech San Diego, UC San Diego, San Diego Regional EDC and WTC San Diego.

PKL Supports Citizens for SWAT for a Second Year

October 23, 2017

Citizens for SWAT began raising funds and support for the San Diego Police SWAT team in 2005. Last year, PKL and our owner, Sam Flores, generously donated to the annual fundraising golf tournament and we are proud to support the event again this year.

A number of PKL personnel attended the golf tournament and dinner to show our support for this community organization.

PKL Accepts SD Chamber Member of the Year Award

August 3, 2017

Earlier this year PKL was awarded the San Diego Chamber of Commerce Honor Roll for hiring veterans. We are very proud of our veteran-dominant workforce (we consistently employ over 90% of our workforce as former military).

In July, the San Diego Regional Chamber graciously awarded us the title of 2017 Member of the Year for the Veteran’s Honor Roll. Our CEO, Terry Robling, was invited to receive the award at the 71st Annual Flag Ball, hosted by the Chamber at The Prado in Balboa Park, and presented to us by Philip Dana and Jerry Sanders.

Our award was the only award presented that evening and we are honored to have been recognized by the Chamber. We also greatly appreciate the value they see in our military veterans serving our community beyond their military careers.

PKL Supports Citizens for SWAT with Executive Sponsor Donation

November 4, 2016

PKL was honored to support our local SWAT and police officers with an Executive Officer Sponsorship to the Citizens of SWAT annual fundraiser. Citizens of SWAT organizes donations to provide San Diego SWAT teams with state-of-the-art equipment and training that regular departmental budgets don’t cover.

The annual event was hosted at Maderas Golf Club and raised large donations to fund the supplies and resources the SWAT team requires. As a token for our donation, PKL executives and guests participated in the golf tournament and got to check out the tools of the trade.
