PKL Supports Citizens for SWAT with Executive Sponsor Donation

November 4, 2016

PKL was honored to support our local SWAT and police officers with an Executive Officer Sponsorship to the Citizens of SWAT annual fundraiser. Citizens of SWAT organizes donations to provide San Diego SWAT teams with state-of-the-art equipment and training that regular departmental budgets don’t cover.

The annual event was hosted at Maderas Golf Club and raised large donations to fund the supplies and resources the SWAT team requires. As a token for our donation, PKL executives and guests participated in the golf tournament and got to check out the tools of the trade.

PKL Awarded SD Chamber of Commerce’s Veterans Honor Roll

August 25, 2016

The San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce announced that PKL Services, Inc. has been designated as a Chamber Honor Roll business member. As a Chamber-sponsored effort to incentivize and motivate the hiring of veterans, the Chamber is proud to include PKL in its list of local firms that are proactively hiring our nation’s heroes.

Honor Roll Decal

“As one of the largest military regions in the county, we have an immense amount of talent and expertise in our veteran community. Without businesses like PKL Services and the leadership of Terry G. Robling setting the bar for veteran engagement, our work would be far more challenging,” said Jerry Sanders, President & CEO of the Chamber. “Our Honor Roll businesses are telling an important story. It’s the story of what happens when an employer is savvy enough to appreciate the unique skillset and capability a veteran brings to their enterprise and the community at large.”

Honor roll designees are Chamber of Commerce members that have hired a veteran that has remained employed for 90 days or longer. PKL was awarded the Elite Honor Roll status for maintaining a 10 percent veteran presence in their total employee numbers.

To date, PKL boasts over 90% of our workforce as veteran employees and we are proud to exemplify the value of veteran hiring in San Diego.

The Honor Roll program was launched in September 2015 as a Chamber imitative to expand business engagement in the veteran community and incentivize increased veteran hiring. The Chamber’s Defense, Veterans and Military Affairs Council pioneered the effort and continues to facilitate veteran hiring policies and guide the business voice in military issues at the local level. PKL Supports Traffic Safety Initiatives in KSA

April 22, 2016

PKL Services, Inc. in Saudi Arabia teamed up with local police officials in the Asir Province, KSA during the 32nd annual Gulf Cooperation Council countries (GCC) to raise awareness for traffic safety. Countries involved include Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar and Bahrain.

During this week, PKL sponsored advertising in the form of roadside signs in several high risk areas to promote safe driving. The focus was geared toward the dangers of distracted driving and the consequences of bad decisions. The theme was “Your fate is decided by your decisions” and was aimed at the 24-35 year old age group, who statistically are involved in the majority of motor vehicles accidents in the Middle East. This is a category that all of our RSAF trainees and some of our employees are a part of and there has been an increased number of accidents over the past year. There have been three student fatalities and one instructor who lost his life. This motivated us to get involved and to make it part of our safety program here in the KSA.

Abdullah Al-Shehri, our Saudi fuels systems instructor along with our quality manager Jeremiah White, were the points of contact and coordinated the effort. The sign and flyer designs were a collaborative effort within the management team here and the local authorities. Once designed, 12 signs were placed at intersections known for their high accident potential.

The KSA program manager and the officer in charge of the program spoke to 120 college and high school students at a local college and provided insight of the problem and possible solutions.

The flyers and pens were distributed to the students and given to the safety center located in the main police building. Agreements were made to continue the program by making it a cooperative effort and sharing information to both a military audience and schools in the province over the next year.
