It’s become a PKL tradition to host a Thanksgiving potluck at our Corporate office. We take time to thank the hardworking employees that keep this company running smoothly while enjoying some delicious food, good company, and a lot of laughs.
Here are a few of the photos from our Thanksgiving lunch:

In staying true to the US Marine Corps tradition, PKL brought together all of our Marines in the Corporate office to enjoy a ceremonial birthday cake. As is customary, the first piece of cake was shared by the eldest Marine (our CEO, Sam Flores) and the youngest Marine (our Government Opportunities Director, Vic David).

On Thursday, October 23rd, the PKL Corporate office hosted our first October-fest celebration. Employees contributed their favorite fall/October themed dish, dessert, or beverage – all of which were voted on for the best in each category.
Some of the delicious items included sauerkraut and sausage, bratwurst, German quiche, pale ale marinated mussels, tuna rolls, homemade pretzels, pumpkin pie, pumpkin scones, and a variety of beers and beverages.
Our winners included the white chocolate Oreo cheesecake for best dessert, the “secret” applesauce marinated sausages for best food, and the “Harry Potter” butter beer for best beverage.
The winners received commemorative plaques to be displayed in their workspaces until next year’s winners take the crowns!

Our VMAQT-1 team in Cherry Point, NC had an exciting day last week when they had a seven jet (EA-6B) flyover MCAS Cherry Point!
Due to the age of the aircraft, it”s a big deal when the squadron can get them all up in the air at the same time. And, according to our team lead, no other “Prowler” unit has ever achieved a seven jet flyover.
The seven EA-6B “Prowler” jets are powered by two Pratt & Whitney J52-P408 engines producing
about 12,000 lbs of thrust each. The aircraft carries four aviators in the cockpit. The aircraft carries pods used for jamming enemy air defense missile and gun radar systems.
Congrats to the VMAQT-1, AVMAC, and PKL team! Go Team Prowler!
Update 10/22/14: This milestone achievement was also showcased on DVIDS this week. http://www.dvidshub.net/image/1622735/vmaqt-1-marines-conduct-historic-fly-lauded-excellence#.VEfsqJ3n-tU

In the recent Q3 report from Bloomberg Government, analyst Jesse Holler reviewed the DoD Training and Simulation opportunities and contractors. There is currently $2.9 billion in total obligations for 2014, year-to-date.
PKL is proud to announce that we are in the top 20 contractors for 2014. We were #63 for fiscal year 2013 and have moved up to #20 for fiscal year 2014. While the top 5 contractors haven’t changed much, more new contractors are making their way onto the list.

We are thrilled to announce that two PKL employees on the VMFAT-101 contract at MCAS Miramar were presented with the Hammer Award recently. This award is traditionally only presented to active duty personnel, so the opportunity to have this awarded to two of our civilian employees is exceptional!
The Hammer Award was “created in 2010 to recognize the performance of VMFAT-101 Maintainers. Recipients are recognized for exemplifying the dedication and technical expertise that have become the foundation of the VMFAT-101 Maintenance Department.”
Both Brandon Nardin and Nate Stuart were presented the award for their “high level of situational awareness and attention to detail” which prevented damage to the aircraft and a potential mishap. The Commanding Officer acknowledged both men for their performance and for setting the standard for the Maintenance Department.
A job well done by both employees! Keep up the exceptional work!

We always appreciate the hard work and dedication of our PKL employees. But we really enjoy seeing how much our customers appreciate it.
Our PKL employees have been hard at work with the USMC, here in the US and over in Afghanistan, for a number of years. As the contract nears its conclusion, the appreciation and accolades these employees receive continue to be presented.
In the latest recognition, our Afghanistan team was presented a very unique opportunity. We are honored that the CO of the MALS-70 Unit in Afghanistan invited our PKL employees to be a part of their unit photo!
Thanks, once again, to our employees for all their great work! And thanks to the MALS-70 team!
